Little tiny miniature pie

Sara and I made these perfect little 4 oz desserts. Make, freeze, and bake as needed. I feel an obsession coming on, just think of all the possibilities... mini cheesecakes, mini brownies, mini cobblers, mini complicated cakes. I'm going to need a mini freezer to store all of them.

lace and stripes

Just can't go wrong with this cardigan. It looks good with everything.

Grandma's Jars

Yesterday I picked up a trunk load of old jars from my Grandmother. My cousin was kind enough to drive them on one of her commutes from New York to Ohio. I'm in love with them. I see endless possibilities.

Art Classes

Before moving back to Ohio I made a list of things I wanted to fill the days with. One of those things was teaching art/craft classes. Things like basic sewing, logo design, baking, screen printing. So I hopped right on board when Ana told me about The Idea Foundry and her idea to hold classes there. We are having our kick off Feb. 6th with an Iron Artist Contest. I designed a little poster and would love for anyone in the area to come. Future classes include a sewing, knitting, and soap making.

A Single Man

Sara and I saw this movie the other night and it may be the most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. Everything about it was mesmerizing.

today

it is rare that I have a whole day off of all of my jobs. And so today was filled. Breaking in my new winter bag, brunch with a friend, a trip to the library, shopping for craft supplies, trying my hand at embroidery, and a big fat plate of chicken and waffles.

11:52am my new breakfast obsession

macarons take two

They looked a little better this time. Still not perfect. I'm going to use a different filling recipe next time and let the cookie part dry a little longer to prevent cracking. To be completely honest they are too sweet even for my sweet tooth but they are just too darn cute to quit on.

Today

7:17pm napping with the cats.

we eat well - chicken noodle soup

Homemade soup is so easy to make. And cheap. Add one chicken carcass, some withering vegetables, and plenty of dried herbs into a pot of water. Simmer for hours, ocassionaly skimming the fat off the top. Strain the liquid into another pot and discard the solids. Add fresh vegetables and homemade noodles to broth and heat until hot. Share with friends.

snow day!

Not actually because I still had to go to work but I tried to get some fun in before I left. And it's still snowing. I'm hoping to have enough for a snowman tomorrow.

Dinner for four

The invitation came at the perfect time, as Mark and I tried to figure out what to eat for dinner. I stuffed myself full of butternut squash soup, homemade crackers, and a lovely tart that Tasha made from a Design Sponge food post.

Food just tastes better when shared with friends.

macaroons

For Christmas Mark bought me a lovely book on how to make macaroons. It's a very detailed step by step guide to keep me from making little inedible wafers like I did last time. My favorite reinforcements came to help me try out my new book and although not perfect we did make edible delicious little macaroons. But mostly we just had fun eating the batter and frosting.

Happy New Years

We had a relaxing laid back New Years. The boys played video games, the girls chatted, and we all ate way too much fondu.
