Around the table

There is something about a dining room table that conjures up thoughts of family. Maybe it is because I'm a little bit old fashioned and grew up with and believe in the ideal of a family sitting down together every evening for dinner. A few weeks ago Mark built us a beautiful dining room table. It's sturdy and simple and I just can't help it... my mind wanders onto all the possible events that could happen around that table. Today I invited my best friend over for brunch and we enjoyed delicious breakfast potatoes and a good chat. Tomorrow there will probably be some sort of celebratory dessert there for Mark's birthday. And so forth.

Oh Hello World Wide Web

Wow, the past two weeks have been so busy that I sort of forgot the internet existed. Thankfully things are slowing down now. I have been training for a new job (more on the later) and finishing up my full time duties at my previous job. Mark has been very busy with both going full time at his job and recording and mixing for Tin Armor.

We took a break from all of that yesterday to enjoy some time with my family at my Aunt and Uncle's cabin. Their serene abode is tucked away between trees and up a hill from a little pond filled with fish. It's one of those places that is so gorgeous and calm that you just want to sink into it.

Gretta

Gretta was found in a parking lot near campus. We took her in and immediately fell in love. Evie was very brave searching for her owners, but it's starting to look like she belongs here. Mary quickly adjusted to the new little friend but Oscar is still struggling with it. I'm looking forward to the day I walk in and catch them all snuggled on the couch together.

Devouring Autumn

I LOVE autumn. Especially in Ohio. Everything dies gracefully giving us the brightest colors and textures. There's the crunch and the chill and the flavors. Apples fall and pies are made, pumpkins line steps, and cozy scarves flap in the wind. If I could I would just devour autumn. Luckily nature knows better and in Ohio it happens slowly so it can be savored.

So full

I have many memories of staying over at my cousins house in the summer. The six of us (all girls) would fill the living room and stuff ourselves with delivery pizza and candy while watching Rigoletto. I would eat SO much to the point where I wanted to die and then I would ask for someone to pass the chips. I would promise to never eat again while shoveling in another handful of m&m's.

I felt the same way after leaving dinner club last night. Only this time instead of candy and delivery pizza it was pumpkin bisque, bread, corn casserole, and tomato watermelon and fetta salad. After I ate all that and felt too full to eat anything ever again there was apple cake, apple crisp, and TWO apple pies. And you just can't not taste each delicious home made goody.

I wouldn't trade those living room floor nights with my cousins for anything. It was nice though to sit down to a big beautifully set table with mismatched vintage dishes and cloth napkins and enjoy this new tradition. The settings may change throughout life but I hope that I will always find myself ritually gorging amongst good company.

Upon Request

Here are some photo's of my current work area upon Ali's request. Now, just to get the rest of the room in order....
